Sail to Monday Creek on Mobjack Bay

It has been quite a while since I posted on this blog. There are things in our life completely turn things upside down. I am living on a sailboat now, A Island Packet 31. For the first overnight sail of the year I decided to go up to Mobjack Bay. Monday Creek is a small anchorage at the head of the bay.

Luckily and I left will be harbor at 8 o'clock. A couple of weeks ago I damaged my head sail. I will be putting on a new Yankee and a stay sail soon. For this trip we sailed only under the main sail. With tailwinds the trip up to York River was fairly quick. Once we turned into Mobjack Bay things changed. The current was against us in the boat could not point very well. We were doing two knots.
There was no hurry. We arrived at Monday Creek by three.
Our shore excursion was cut a little short by numerous flies that were along the Marsh grass.
Overall it was a very enjoyable trip.
The day was finished off by a beautiful sunset.

Starting to get ready for the Watertribe EC

The Everglades Challenge starts in less than a month. Unless the weather drastically improves, I will not have any time on the water to train.

Rough weather ahead

The wind is blowing 20 - 25 knots tonight. Waves are predicted to be 4 foot in the morning and blowing straight onto the beach. It will be a interesting launch.

Watertribe North Carolina Pamlico Challenge

Friday at 0700 is the start of the Latest Watertibe race. I am packed and ready. This year is the first time for a 300 mile race in North Carolina. The winds are not looking good.

I have added some double dodger protection that also doubles as my on the water sleeping tent.

I cut up a old tent and re-sewed it into cockpit shelter.

Durant Island

I am on the north side of Durant island just off the entrance to alligator River.

North Carolina Practice

I am in North Carolina leaving Big Flatty boat ramp. I have to cross Albemarle Sound to Alligator River, the north end of the Watertribe NCPC Challenge.
